How To Cash In With Private Label Rights Products!

If you are good at developing products, may it be E-books or software, selling Private Label Rights to these products can be suitable for you. Private Label Rights have a high perceived value because it allows your buyers to put their name on a product which they haven't created themselves. It can save them a lot of time.

In case you already have an existing digital product which you have created and sold in the past and you are looking for additional sources of income, you can consider selling the Private Label Rights to other Internet Marketers.

Why other Internet marketers? Because they are constantly on the lookout for new products to sell. There are only so many products they can create themselves in a month so buying the rights to products they can start selling as their own seems to be very attractive to most of them.

Making Money from Selling Private Label Rights products

The following are ways you can make money from selling Private Label Rights products:

Upfront Sales. This is the most attractive part of selling Private Label Rights. Private Label Rights can range from a few dollars to even thousands of dollars, depending on the quality of the product, its demand and how proven it is (aka how many sales you've made for the personal use version…).

Selling Basic/Master Resell Rights to the Private Label Rights product. You can sell the Basic/Master Resell Rights to the editable, raw format of the product separately. If your buyer wishes to resell the Private Label Rights, you can charge him 4-5 times the normal price of the product and up 10 times if the buyer wants to have the Master Resell Rights, allowing him and his customers to resell the Private Label Rights to the product, as you are doing.

Pros

  • You can make a lot of money from selling Private Label Rights, as these are some of the most expensive rights you can buy in the Internet Marketing field.
  • Your customers will mainly be Internet Marketers, and savvy Internet Marketers are usually busy people and they prefer to focus their efforts more on marketing than product creation and setting them up. Thus, they do not have any problems with making purchases on Private Label Rights products, as long as you give them good reasons to buy from you and presupposed you help them to save their time from having to create their own quality products from scratch.

Cons

  • There is often no residual income in selling Private Label Rights products. This is because your customers, who are mainly Internet Marketers, will edit your product and use their own affiliate links in it. Unless you start a Private Label Rights membership site, you'll make your money solely from upfront sales.
  • Selling Private Label Rights products means that you cannot take the credit of authorship. One of the main benefits that make Internet Marketers buy from you is because they want to have the privilege to put their name on the product as the author. You remain anonymous.
  • Creating your own Private Label Rights product demands a high degree of expertise, talent, thorough research, programming (for software) and writing skills on your part. If you do not have any of these traits, creating your own Private Label Content can be a difficult challenge.
  • Creating your own Private Label Rights product is effort and time consuming. Unless you are using the product yourself, it may not be worth your time and effort in the long run even though there is a lot of potential income to be made from selling Private Label Rights.

What You Need Before Getting Started

You will need the following before getting started on creating and selling a new Private Label Rights product (if you don't have an existing one):

1. Word Program

If you are going to create a Private Label Information Product (E-book), you will need a Word program to create your Information Product in .doc format. If you are using MS Office, the Microsoft Word program should already be installed on your PC.

Alternatively, you can use your free NotePad program to create your Information Product in its raw format, though Microsoft Word is preferable, since you'll be able to add different formattings to the text.

2. PDF Converter

You need a PDF Converter program which will convert your finished Word document to PDF format (the PDF format is the best format out there because it allows you to offer your product to MS Windows users AND Mac users - .exe files can only be opened by Windows users…). If you do not have any PDF Converter program installed on your PC, you can get a free PDF Converter software here.

3. Graphics Program

You'll need a program to design your product’s E-cover. I use Adobe Photoshop to design my E-covers (in combination with some nice plugins). Adobe offers a free trial version (30 day usage) here.

4. Good Salesletter

This is a very important element of your Private Label Rights sales success. If you cannot convince your prospects to buy from you, you cannot make any sale - no matter how good your product is. If you don't know how to write a good salesletter yourself, then outsource that part to places like Elance.com or Scriptlance.com. They have a feedback system there which is similar to Ebay's system so you can choose the freelancer with the best feedback/price ratio.

5. Web Hosting and Domain Name

You'll need to register a domain name for your product (at e.g. Namecheap.com) AND you'll need web hosting for it. These are not the same things. Registering a domain name simply means that you have a www.yoursite.com address registered in your name.

In order to let other people come to your new website, you'll still need to rent web space on the Internet so you can store the files for the salesletter, Thank You page and your digital Private Label Rights product (the PDF file). Basically, you rent this space from a web hosting company which specializes in making servers available with a direct connection to the Internet.

6. Auto Responder

You need an Auto Responder to:

• Follow up with your prospects who do not buy from you for the first time, and

• Build your mailing list. By having your own mailing list, you can make your money from your customers within a short period of time.

Personally, I'm recommending Aweber as it has the best delivery rates for emails on the Internet. It's the one I'm using to send out my own newsletters and it's a service which comes highly recommended by all the top Internet marketers.

7. Credit Card Payment Processor

You will need this to collect the payments from your customers. If you don't expect a too high sales volume, you could go with Paypal since most Internet marketers who are going to buy from you will expect this payment solution. You can use it in combination with some script so you can automate the payment and delivery process and protect your downloads.

Alternatives are Clickbank (one time fee to register as a merchant - it has Paypal integrated now), 2Checkout (one time fee to regsiter as a merchant, too - Paypal has been integrated, too) or 1Shoppingcart (monthly fee).

Conclusion:

Once you have all of these things in place, you can start driving traffic to your salesletter. If you already have a list, this can be as easy as sending an email to your list. If you don't have such a list of prospects and customers, you'll need to contact other list owners who have potential customers on their lists (also known as JV). But this also means that you'll make less per sale as you need to pay them a commission for each sale (usually between 50-100%).

Yes, some people even give away 100% commissions just to get customers on their own list. Later down the road, they can start selling their own stuff to them and they get to keep everything - which is the whole purpose of giving away the full commissions. The other reason is that they might have a One Time Offer behind it, on which they make 50% so they can still profit from a high number of sales when giving away 100% commissions…

Free Video Explains Social Bookmarking Or "Tagging" A Web Page

Poooh,…..I finally got your video about social bookmarking finished. It feels like it took forever.

My original plan was to have it released… yesterday…! But I soon had to confess to myself that this was absolutely impossible :( .

Not just because it took me almost half of the day to shoot the video. That was not the real problem.

The video consists of 3 individual parts which I had to combine into 1 big AVI file (the final file was 584 MB to give you an impression of the size). It took my PC hours and hours and I don't have a particular slow one.

I own an Intel PC with 3.2 Ghz and 2 GB RAM (maybe the 2 GB weren't enough - who knows…). And when I had combined all the 3 parts, I needed to convert the avi into a Flash file in order to make it smaller and to have it display on a web page… Baaaaammm…. it took my PC another 2 hours again.

D**n…!

Of course, I'm not Steven Spielberg or an actor so maybe you find it a bit boring…

The video consists of:

a.) A personal introduction done with my Camcorder which I bought last year when I went to Mauritius to do the personal IM coaching

b.) Explanation what Social Bookmarking is all about and why you need it (with Powerpoint Slides)

c.) Practical examples of how to bookmark and "tag" a web page + a free service which can help you to save time when bookmarking your site

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let me tell you that I've put in a lot of sweat and time into the creation of this video. If you like the video, I hope, you'll at least leave a nice comment on my blog :)
It would really be appreciated…
In case you haven't yet understood what all this talk about "social bookmarking" is about then this video is for you (click either on the picture or the link below):
sb-preview
17:47 mins. playing time
==> http://hopurl.com/42238
(The video is still quite large - please be patient)
And yes, I had to read most of the stuff from my powerpoint slides because I'm neither an actor nor good at doing free public speeches so please bear with me…
I'm just a regular guy, not a professional movie producer.
With that said, I hope, you'll find the video useful. And if you want to receive more of them then I want to let you know that the other parts will go right into the members' area of my Niche Content Websites membership area (paid members only, though…).
Because what I am about to show in these different parts are exactly the steps you absolutely need to take to PROMOTE your Adsense sites in order to be successful and have them make money for you.
Whether you are getting these kind of pre-made Adsense sites from me or someone else doesn't matter. If you're not doing the required promotion (==> think ONE-WAY BACKLINKS!) then you won't be getting free traffic from the mentioned resources, nor from the search engines!!
That's just a fact which newbies often tend to ignore…
I'll do another update on my NCW site and the change will be huge (you've just learned that there will be some new educational videos in it but there's still more to come). You've personally voted for this so stay tuned… I've blocked the signup of new members for now since I will be introducing completely new membership levels in April.
"Free" CD offer guys are using shady business practices!
Sometimes things are not what they seem…
While I had the intention of giving great value to my subscribers with the free CD offer I made on Saturday, it turns out that it wasn't as good as I thought… in fact, it's another nightmare for me because of the way this offer was set up.
Even though the content of the CD itself seems to be very good, their business practices are not. I mean, I knew there was some kind of additional charge involved because this was a CPA based offer. (CPA means Cost Per Action).
But I didn't know that they have the additional charge in their fine print and not just as a one time fee but set up as a monthly subscription at a rate of $49.95 but even worse:
The trial already ends after 24 hours. I now feel really bad to have endorsed this kind of offer!
It certainly does not comply with my understanding of ethical Internet marketing practices :< (
There was no way that I could have foreseen this, though.
Of course, I'm still expecting that my subscribers do their own due dilligence with that kind of offers in the way like several of my subscribers have done, too, and who notified me of the situation (Thanks to William, Hoss & Graham!).
Let me tell you how I found out about this offer: I stumbled upon this offer while doing research on CPA offers for my niches on Primaryads.com and it looked like a good fit for my subscribers - there are not too many courses on making money from Google's services suitable for beginners.
I really can't understand why Primaryads is supporting this kind of dubious business practices, though. But what's even worse: Why don't these guys just sell the CD at $49,95 instead of using camouflage tactics with a "free" CD?
As I said, the content itself seems to be good - I've heard this from several subscribers who already signed up to this offer.
Here's my suggestion if you signed up for this offer and you don't want more CD's/ additional charges:
Cancel your subscription by phone. In case that you already have a charge on your credit card for this "free" offer - do a chargeback on your credit card if you don't agree on this.
There also is phone number where you can call them and have the trials cancelled.
The number to call is the following:
888-362-6221 and talk to them or leave a voice mail. They will email you back that they have canceled your trial after doing this.
Again: I am really sorry to have brought some of you into this situation! I had the best intentions with this offer, though.
Note: In the meantime, Primaryads.com has taken the offer offline after I contacted them and had let them know about what these crooks were doing…!!
I'm really getting tired of the Internet marketing "niche"…
As you probably might have noticed, I have been taking part in quite a lot of Giveaways recently. That's because I have set myself a goal. And that goal is to reach the 10,000 subscriber mark before the end of March…
And I am really getting very close. I now have 9208 subscribers on my main Internet marketing list. One of the Giveaways I am putting a lot of trust into is the "Free PLR Giveaway" by my buddy Xavier Nelson and Doug Champigny.
But I also realize there will be a lot of "takers" from these giveaways. Meaning, these are the ones who take whatever is being given away without the slightest interest for the newsletters and messages the author / developer has put together.
This is really a shame and one of the reasons why I am getting tired of the Internet marketing "niche"…
FREE PLR ROUND 4 - DOWNLOAD GIFTS WITH FULL AND UNRESTRICTED PRIVATE LABEL RIGHTS
Anyway, week 2 of the Free PLR (Private Label Rights) Giveaway has just started. It includes a lot of new gifts which have gone live on Sunday - incl. my own gift. Grab your gifts here and put your name on them:
==> http://viralurl.com/visitus/61711885
(If you want my own gift, you'll need to subscribe there, too)
ANNOUNCEMENT: MY BUSINESS WILL CHANGE DIRECTION
I also have an announcement to make… As I've already mentioned above: I am simply getting tired of the Internet marketing "game" or "niche".
The same old crap gets republished and rehashed and people, especially newbies still don't know which of the many ebooks and courses will lead them to success.( I will introduce a highly recommended resource to you tomorrow - it's called Mafioso Marketing. You can download some preview chapters from here ).
The problem is: Most people don't want to try and apply the knowledge to niches but to Internet marketing itself which makes tens of thousands of people flock to Internet marketing - instead of the niches where the easy money is…
While IM might be an option if you have years of personal experience in this area under your belt, it is usually a way which leads newbies to nowhere land as you can only make it there with very innovative ideas and products and not by publishing and selling the same stuff as thousands of others.
I have written an ebook which does not make empty promises but tells you what you need to do in order to make money online - step by step and up to $9,183.21 in one month.
People have been thanking me for having written like it is:
==> http://hopurl.com/41142
Personally, I will be going a different route, too. I will continue to serve my subscribers and customers but mainly with complete, turnkey niche businesses and niche products.
BONUS FOR NEW NICHE CONTENT WEBSITES MEMBERS - PLR TO IM PRODUCT BUDDY!! PUT YOUR NAME ON ONE OF MY TOP LEAD GENERATORS…
I think, the real money is in: NICHE MARKETING.
My Niche Content Websites membership website is a perfect example of what is needed in niche markets: Products (e.g. ebooks and audios) and content websites.
If you're dreaming about multiple streams of income and you want to go the easy way by not having to create your own products in these niches then look no further than here:
==> http://hopurl.com/41143
Sign up for free and if you like what you are seeing then get yourself a full membership - this allows you to tackle up to 13 different niches (you'll get 13 UNIQUE content websites with income streams like Adsense and Clickbank ads for up to 75% commissions have already been integrated).
The next 30 members who are getting a paid membership at Niche Content Websites will receive THE FULL PRIVATE LABEL RIGHTS TO MY "IM PRODUCT BUDDY" SOFTWARE. This means, you'll be able to put your own name on it and start giving it away as your personal lead generator/list building tool! I'll even add my personal squeeze page to the mix (which you can see at http://www.viraldatabases.com/ …).
NOt only that but the PLR gives you the source code, the Filemaker Pro files which allows you to change the whole look and feel of the software.
You can even "nichify" the whole software and create e.g. a "Golf Product Buddy" or a "Bass Fishing Product Buddy" where people within these niches can save the details about products they have purchased. Even in those niches, you'll be able to use it as a lead generator…
You'll receive the complete package after you've made your second (2nd) monthly payment for NCW. And then you simply go to:
==> http://www.ethicalinternetmarketer.com/helpdesk
and enter your subscription ID so I can verify your payments. I'll send you the download link directly after this.
That's it for today… Have a great week!
What's your decision?
Are you decisive? If you're not, it's going to be a long, disappointing road.
I have been in this online business for a long time now. You know what? I've made a lot of decisions along the way. Some of those were the right ones, but many were the wrong ones. The decisions we make define us.
There are a lot of opportunities out there that will promise you riches beyond your wildest imaginations.
That's great! Except it's not that simple. I don't care what it is, it will take hard work, commitment and decisions… there you have it again.
As an example, let's say you decide your opportunity is to set up a website to sell tennis rackets for lefties. How would you approach this? Would you just set up a site and boom the checks will start rolling in…?
No! First, you have to decide how the website is going to be set up. Are you going to build it yourself? If so, what's best for your website? Do you want it set it up in PHP or do you want to use HTML/CSS? What editor will you use? Front Page (please don't…)? Will everything be based on a Wordpress platform?
Or are you going to decide to hire someone to build it for you?
How will you lay it out? Do you have a logo? Do you need one? What color scheme are you going to use? Do you know the effect of color on your visitors? How do you decide?
What e-Commerce solution is best for you? Consider your monthly volume. If it is going to be over $1,000, a merchant account is usually a good choice. You may consider Paypal in conjunction with a merchant account. If you do consider a merchant account, you also need to look into electronic payment gateways.
Then you have to market the products… Are you going to use pop-ups? Are you going to advertise with Adwords, Banners, E-zines, Article Marketing - and what about Joint Ventures…?
What's my point…? You are going to have to make the right decisions for YOUR business. There are a lot of steps from getting an idea to building the proper platform for the idea and executing it.
Your decisions will ultimately lead to an end result… Did it work? Are you making money?… or is it a do over?
When you decide to pursue an opportunity, it's your decisions that will make your site a success or not.
You must learn to decide. Indecision paired with inaction will find you broke and discouraged…
What is your marketing strategy?
Do you even HAVE a strategy for your business?
From my observations, I see a lot of people online that are moving forward without much of a strategy. Or they are stuck using other peoples strategies and don't develop their own based on their needs and abilities.
It is very important to understand that those that are teaching you things online, are doing what they know or have been successful with themselves. It is not necessarily the path for YOU or the only path you should take…
You need to know what YOU want:
  • What market do you want to be in?
  • What business do you want to be in (e.g. selling physical products, info products or just publishing content)?
  • Where will your income come from (what's your frontend/upsell/backend/recurring product)?
  • Who will be your target customers and where do they hang out?
  • Which methods will you be using to build your list (you ARE building your list, right…?)?
Key strategy: Diversify your traffic sources I use a combination of strategies but the most important one is to focus on list building - this way, you'll never get stuck for traffic… and I strongly use the old saying, "Don't put all your eggs in one basket."
I just saw a guy the other day freaking out because Google was wiping out his business… He fell by around 400 visitors to his website per day which crushed his income.
Why? Because he had all his eggs in the Google basket! Google is the type of animal that can make changes that don't make sense, have no ryme or reason, and simply just happen. You may think you have control, but you don't.
That's why you must diversify. Have a strategy that takes into account these type of things… Don't do just one thing… Let me rephrase that… You can do one thing, but make sure that you are covered within that one thing.
For instance if you depend on Google Adwords for 100% of your income, that's fine. Just make sure that you are not doing just one thing within that. Make sure you are not in one market or are driving traffic one way.
Things are changing rapidly
Things are in a continuous state of change online. You must brace yourself for that change. Make sure you have a strategy and you aren't just mesmerized by some opportunity and you lose sight of the big picture.
This is a business not just a way to make some quick cash… it can be, but generally I think most of us want to have long term results and not live on the edge…
So have some sort of strategy in place for your business that insulates you from the environment. You should have a short term, medium and long term strategy and goals. Where do you see yourself in 1 month, 6 months, 5 years?
How are you going to get there - what are your personal/business goals?
There are things I do to make money now, but there are also things that I am building now that will blossom in the future or offer long term stability.
Just sit down for a few minutes and write down some of your goals and what you want out of this business. After you know what you want and have taken into consideration the environment, map out how your are going to get there… every single detail.
If you do this, you will not only find financial stability over the long term, but you will find peace of mind.
10 reasons why people are failing online
There are different reasons why many people (some say as much as 80-90% of all "marketers" or at least people who are trying it) aren't making much money online. I've picked the ones which are most obvious and which should give you some food for thought if you belong into that category of non-successful marketers as well.
They are ordered from least important to most important…
Reason 10: No technical knowhow.
Some people never start because they don't know any HTML or they don't know how to edit PHP or JavaScript. What a lame excuse is that? You can outsource almost anything and if you know nothing about building a website, then hire someone to do it for you. You can go to freelancer sites like Elance.com or ScriptLance.com and people from all over the world will get the work done for you. You just tell them what you have in mind and they are designing the site or adding some scripts to it. Then you only have to give them the text which should be put online and maybe some pictures.
It's better to learn how to do it yourself though. Web Editors have been created so you don't have to deal with all the HTML coding. Basically, if you can use Microsoft Word, you'll be able to use a web editor, too. You just need to learn some basics about e.g. FrontPage or Dreamweaver or for us Internet marketers, the best choice is Xsite Pro because it is a content management system and it's easier to make changes to a complex site. If you have no money for these tools, then wait for your next birthday or for Christmas and put it on your wish list. Where there's a will, there's a way!
Reason 9: No knowledge about the basics.
If you don't know what Clickbank is or how to insert a Paypal button into a salespage, that's something you need to work on first. Also, you need to know what kind of strategy you want to use in the sales process. Do you want to have a one time offer? Will you have a backend product in place? Will you be offering resell rights or have an affiliate program? Do you have an autoresponder series in place? What is an autoresponder in the first place…?
These are all questions that will come up once you start selling your first product. Be sure you are prepared to answer them when the time has come. Learn the basics before anything else. It will be much easier for you to generate an income on the Internet once you are ready and you feel you have the right idea for a business.
Reason 8: No contact details.
I don't know about you but if I come to a page where a product is being offered and there is not a single detail given about the person who is selling it, I am not buying (I could look up the details in the whois database but that's a different story - they could have protected their personal details).
Moreover, if there's not even a possibility to contact the product owner, it gets even worse. Because what should I do if something goes wrong with the product delivery? Things like these just happen all the time and if I can't reach anyone, they have lost my purchase.
So whenever you are selling something online, be sure to add your personal details. At a bare minimum, your physical mailing address and a way to contact you either per email or via a contact form. In times of spam, a contact form is completely okay. Add a picture of yourself so your visitors get to know you. You need to build trust and this is very difficult online as there are many scammers out there. You need to differentiate yourself from them.
Reason 7: No money back guarantee.
If you are not confident in your products, you probably won't like to add a money back guarantee in fear of people taking advantage of it. But let me tell you, the additional sales you're making from having a guarantee on your salesletter will by far outweigh the lost sales from a few serial refunders (people who are buying a product and ask for a refund a few hours later even though they can't have tried anything that's explained within the product).
But if you're getting a lot of refunds when offering a money back guarantee, you should ask yourself if the quality of the product is high enough. If not, dump the product or improve it. You certainly don't want to be associated with crappy products. Customer satisfaction should be one of your main concerns. You are nothing without your customers and you won't have a business if you neglect them!
Reason 6: No vision.
Ask yourself where you want to be in 2 or 3 years. What do you want to have achieved by then? Write down the steps which are needed to get there. Set achievable goals and list short term goals for each working day of your week. Basically, this is known as a to-do list. You need to write down what you want to get done or it won't get done at all. Believe me, I've been there…!
Without proper time management, which goes alongside with having a vision in place, you won't achieve anything. Don't let yourself get distracted or sidetracked and be focused on achieving that vision (e.g. you want to have a niche site "empire" of at least 25 sites and each of them should be making $500 per month at a bare minumum). Plan your days so you can achieve your vision. Set targets. When you're jumping from opportunity to opportunity, you won't have a business. Use mind mapping tools and join Simpleology to learn more about how to properly plan these things.
Reason 5: Very little traffic.
If your visitor counter is getting rusty, you definitely need to learn about driving traffic to your websites. A lot of marketers don't have any problems putting together a great product but then they get stuck with this traffic thing. There are several time tested methods for getting traffic (I've been using several of them since 2001 when I was starting out e.g. article marketing and JV marketing).
If you don't want to do this yourself like finding JV partners and sending them an email or even a postcard, then hire someone to do it for you (basically, you hire a JV broker). Some of them won't even get paid until they have gotten results for you (for example if they are getting a percentage share of what the recruited JV partners are selling). Use viral marketing by giving away or selling reports. Get creative!
Reason 4: Crappy web design.
How do you expect to make sales if your web design is completely confusing and you have thousands of different links on one page? Or if your page looks like your 10 year old nephew designed it? You need to have a structure on your page that ultimately leads either to an opt-in or to your salesletter. Everything else is nice but doesn't make you any money (apart from contextual advertising where you get paid per click or action - see Adsense or Azoogle).
Your website also needs to build trust so having your personal details and probably a picture of yourself on the page is not only recommended, in my opinion it is almost mandatory!
Reason 3: Not building a list.
You've heard it a thousand times - not only from me but from everyone who's been making money online for a while. Without a list, you're never going to be very successful. Or at least, you're leaving lots and lots of money on the table. This is why building your list has to be a main focus in everything you do.
Your income will very highly depend on the size of your list and moreover on the RESPONSIVENESS of your list. If you don't build a relationship with your subscribers, it will be hard to make a lot of sales, either. Do everything you can to give your subscribers value, something they can use in their own business to improve their sales or what can help them solve their problems. You need to become the problem solver (your products could be the solutions they are looking for), the person they will go to if they can't get something done on their own.
Reason 2: A poor product.
Are you trying to sell a product that no one wants…? You need to find out what people want and then create a product around it. Not by creating the product first and then finding the customers. Moreover, the product should be as unique as possible (see my PromoBuddy or my AffiliateTurbo softwares for example - both products have made me thousands and thousands of dollars).
You can find out what they want by doing surveys (if you have a list, you can send them directly to a survey page). If you don't have a list, use Adwords to drive targeted traffic to a squeeze page or to the survey page (it's a little harder to get answers from people who don't know you, yet). It could be a question like "What is your biggest challenge in… (niche)?"
If you have enough traffic and you're not selling anything (and you have corrected the other reasons for failure online from this article) then ask yourself if the product is good enough. Do this especially if you're not getting any testimonials or positive feedback about it.
Reason 1: Not taking action.
Here it is, black on white… the most important reason why people are not successful online! If you're not putting the strategies into action that you've read about, you can't make any money. It's as easy as that!
Maybe, you've never even started. Or if you have started, how do you expect to make money if you try a little bit here and a little bit there but you generally lack a vision for your business and you're not doing the things needed to move forward? What do you want to achieve? Why do so many people want to make a start in the Internet marketing "arena" when they don't have any knowledge or experience within that area…?
Many people who want to make money on the net are just thinking in terms of quick money. Where can I make a quick buck…? That's all they want and it is why the biz opp type of sites get so many people sucked in. Often, not the products are what's being promoted but the dream. A dream that you can make money in your underwear even for people who know squat about the Internet or who barely know how to copy and paste a piece of text.
Let me tell you from personal experience: This is crap… Everyone who is telling you that you don't have to do any work or don't need to know any basics is lying to you! Internet marketing is WORK! Once the ground work is done, it gets easier and yes, you can send out an email to your list and make several thousands from it. But…
… Get the basics of selling online right, first. THEN you can think about what people need and how you can create a product that people want to buy. Great products can even be sold with crappy salesletters (so if you are not getting enough conversions, try improving your salesletter, first).
You'll learn best by doing. Instead of buying another dozen ebooks, get dirty and finally start building that first website. Even if it is just for testing purposes. Buy a private label resell rights product (see further down), register a domain name, edit the salesletter a bit so it's personalized with your own details, create a download page, add a payment button and let your friends or relatives make some test purchases. Make a start.
Why I haven't been promoting Russell Brunson's IM Myth Report
I've been asked why I haven't sent out anything about Russell Brunson's latest "IM-Myth" report. Well, there are several factors. I really think that Russell has done a clever promotion stunt by getting others to promote his report. Of course, marketers are getting the $1 per download and the $0.50 on the second tier.
That's nothing new…
But what are they losing out on? If you have read the report, you will know that it is all about integrating offline marketing into your marketing mix. And he has found a Mr. X who has taught him all of the "secrets" about doing offline promotions - and he's recorded it. This recording and probably some additional PDFs will be sold as a new product on Oct. 9th and be called "The 12 Month Internet Millionaire".
So basically, here's what happened: Potential affiliates have sent thousands and thousands of leads to Russell's list. Instead of having to pay a lot of affiliates and JV partners 50-60% of the commissions for his upcoming product, he can now send his new subscribers a direct email and get 100% of the sale. In other words, most likely by the end of the month, he will have made much more money from his own sales than what he will have to pay in lead commissions.
I do not doubt the effectivity of these offline techniques - that's not the point. The point is that the report is not rebrandable. Meaning, marketers are sending their leads for $1 a pop when they could have made more in commissions on the sales of the product itself. I don't know what the price will be but I guess, it's going to be at least $197.
Moreover, personally I have not gone online to do offline promotions. Since I am located in Europe, it would be kind of difficult to organize offline promotions in the US, anyway. It's simply of no use to me - I don't have the right kind of connections to be able to make use of it. The other point is that it could be too expensive for Internet marketers who haven't had their "breakthrough", yet.
Offline campaigns can cost a lot of money and you can't be certain that you will be making your money back or even make a profit. Even for experienced marketers this doesn't always work. If you have some spare money left that you can spend on a lot of testing then go ahead and do it. In this case, you should also be buying Russell's product. Of course, I don't want to stop you from doing that. I know that Russell's products are top notch.
Offline marketing is just not my kind of thing…
Are your subscribers stealing your products?
This message is about the second incident from yesterday which caused some errors during the order process (only 5-8 buyers were affected by this, though…).
Basically, it all started well. I sent out an email for my buddy Dirk Wagner's latest "Crazy Deal" and it was for a script which can link your keywords to Clickbank products or to your own product offers. They appear like those Kontera ads when you hover with your mouse over them (a popup with a product title and a link to the actual offer).
It seems that many of my subscribers liked the offer because there were quite a lot of sales for it. That was the positive aspect. The negative one was that I noticed that the number of sales in my stats for Dirk's deal was different from the number of Paypal notifications I received. Something must have gone wrong, I thought. It had never happened before that there was such a difference between the stats and the actual Paypal receipts.
So I called Dirk on the phone in order to verify the stats and we noticed that there were names in my list which didn't appear in my Paypal sales stats. Since everything can be tracked individually, we even could find out the names of the ones who did a "freeload". I won't go into the details here but people who know the script from the inside out (maybe because they are using it themselves), know how to access the product on someone else's server as well because of the whole setup.
In order to close this loophole, I suggested Dirk should rename some of the files for the download pages. And this worked. After he did this, no further "freeloaders" were caught trying to trick the script.
This caused a temporary failure on some regular orders as well. Because of the renamed files, something went wrong with another associated file. And since that other file was written in CGI, we didn't know how to fix it immediately. So basically during half an hour or so, some people made orders and couldn't access their download. We are really sorry about this but we had to take measures against the product thieves. They all should have gotten their product by now as we tried to get back to these buyers as quickly as possible.
Next time, the URLs will be secured in advance to close the loophole even before it comes up. And with that said, I hope, you'll understand everything from the seller's point of view as well and that this doesn't stop you from taking me up on my next offers. I'm trying to give back here so you can learn from my mistakes. As soon as you're selling your own products, you will understand this.
The concept behind those $7 sales & an eplanation of yesterday's mess…
Yesterday was an absolute nightmare for me… I promoted a Clickbank script (and a different one - more on that in another blog post) and the delivery process was not really error-free.
All I wanted was to give my subscribers a great product at a very affordable price ( at $7 - most similar scripts cost more than $40).
Here's what happened when I sent out my offer:
1.) People clicked the URL and were sent to the product owner's site using my affiliate URL
2.) A lot of my subscribers ordered the product and I got the full 100% commissions - paid to my Paypal account
3.) The button in Paypal "Return to merchant" didn't send them to the download page but to a page with an error message.
4.) The buyers which I had sent over to the site, opened tickets on my helpdesk or sent me direct emails asking for the download link
5.) I couldn't service them because it was not my product - it was a 100% commission offer using the $7 script
6.) I contacted the product owner and got an email back several hours later
7.) So basically I had to wait until the product owner read his emails and then I had to forward him the support requests I got…
There were several problems for me. I sent out the message with the offer quite early. It was at around 1 PM of my time which was about 6 AM EST. Most people are still sleeping at a time like this.
I got several tickets where the buyers wanted to get their item A.S.A.P (several people also wrote it like this in their emails). I couldn't send them the download link because of the reasons which you can read below in the explanation about $7 sales. It was a bad situation to be in because the product wasn't mine and it wasn't even located on my own server. I had to wait for the product owner to react…
Several hours later, I got to know why the first series of sales bombed and produced error messages. It was because the seller was using a MODIFIED version of the $7 script - he wanted more automation. This modification caused the errors (I had promoted several other $7 offers in the past and these errors had never happened before).
He used the auto return IPN feature and activated it in the script. This caused a conflict with the settings in my own Paypal account because I ALSO had auto return enabled for sales of my own products. It seems that the script took MY Paypal auto return settings instead of his. Now I am not a PHP programmer so I didn't understand it until he told me about his modification.
Basically, I had to switch off the automatic delivery of my own products to make the $7 script of this seller work. Until I got to know this and could take measures, several dozens of orders had already gone through the system. These buyers had to be contacted by email, one by one. I hope, you have received your product in the meantime if you were affected by the error yourself.
It can be quite difficult for inexperienced buyers to understand the whole process behind it. That's why I wrote this article in the first place…
What does the $7 Dollar script do?
Basically, the script works like this: The order button is linked to a PHP page and this order page gets the product details and owner details from a different PHP file. It uses a standard Paypal email address (which can be written into a settings.php file) to transfer the money and the product details to the site owner's Paypal account.
When someone else promotes the product owner's site, the standard Paypal email address of the owner gets replaced by the affiliate's Paypal email address and thus the affiliate gets the full order price paid to HIS Paypal account - it's a 100% commission item in this case.
The standard link for the product owner goes like this:
http://www.productownerurl.com/?e=paypalemail@productowner.com
When the affiliate wants to send him customers, the affiliate uses a link in the following format:
http://www.productownerurl.com/?e=paypalemail@affiliate.com
A lot of people are not familiar with the principles of the $7 script (this concept was invented by Jonathan Leger). Therefore a little explanation of the concept and idea behind it: The seller sells his product (e.g. an ebook or a script) very cheaply so he can get a lot of sales. He's offering affiliates 100% on this item in order to build a list of customers (and sometimes in order to show a one time offer on which he makes more money, too - like the resell rights to the item purchased).
This way, both profit: The product owner because he can then promote other products to these buyers in the future and the affiliate (me in this case) because he's getting paid the full purchase price. Because of this reason, buyers were seeing MY details in yesterday's purchase receipts, not the product owner's.
It's still his product and his product support, though. Therefore, I can't take over the full support from him. The product owner's goal is to build a list and if I would be sending my customers the link to the download, it would forfeit the whole sale principle and idea behind it.
Again: It's a 100% commission item - meaning he stays the owner of the product and I am not getting access to his webserver or something like that. I am getting the full purchase price for it, yes. But it's automated by the $7 script. If it weren't for this script, several items a lot of successful sellers have been selling in the past would have been sold at a much higher price!!
I have learned my lesson, though. If I am promoting such an item in the future, I will make sure that the product owner is actually awake and can help my customers if something goes wrong with their purchase. Buyers should also take into consideration that selling online is not always without mistakes. Sometimes, a return URL can have a spelling error in there and the URL can't be found because of this. Or a file has been uploaded to a wrong folder on a server. These things can happen.
We product sellers are only human and humans are making mistakes. Not always but mistakes CAN happen. If you ever encounter something like this, you can be sure that I will be doing my best to help you as quickly as possible. Using my helpdesk will be the quickest way to get a response from me and it's the safest way to contact me because emails get lost and with all those spam filters in place, it's simply getting unreliable.
If you're not getting an answer immediately, you also have to take into consideration the time difference (a difference of at least 7 hours between Germany and the US). So here in Germany it could be 7 hours later than where you live - I mean, you certainly will understand that I need some sleep as well, right…?
Please leave your comments on this, I am interested in hearing what you think about this… Could I have done something different to avoid this (apart from sending out the message at a different time)? Did I react correctly? Have you had similar experiences in the past… ? Let me know.
Are you someone who can solve problems?
Niche marketing at its' best helps to solve real problems that real people have to live with every day. If you can come up with a product or service to promote in a niche market that will help people solve their problems then you will easily be able to build a money making niche website. Apart from that, you also can quickly build a long list of potential subscribers and customers.
The things that people view as "problems" are opportunities for you… everything from bad breath to a bad golf swing to a chronic disease are problems where people are looking for help to get it solved.
A good way to find out what people consider a problem is to visit different online forums. People talk about anything and everything online. They discuss subjects that they wouldn't talk about with their best friends for the simple reason that they can stay anonymous. They look for solutions online for the very same reason.
By visiting forums and taking note of what people are most concerned about, you can search the Internet for products and services that will help them solve those problems. Gather information about the topic.
Write or have something written for you e.g. articles about the niche topic. You can find a topic and build a content-rich website for your niche that helps with the problem you have identified and that will serve the needs of people.
Solving other people's problems and giving them info that will make them e.g. happier, healthier or richer will be the key to your online success within any niche.
An additional way to use forums is to post questions which will produce many responses. You can then use these responses in your ebook on the topic. The fact is that many people will buy an ebook that is filled with information they could easily gather for themselves, pre-supposed they'd have the knowledge about Internet technologies and doing proper reasearch.
Most people simply don't know how to find what they are looking for. They will also purchase ebooks that will tell them what other people with the same problem think about or what they are doing about their common problem even if it cannot be completely solved.
The only thing that's still left for you to do is to put your product up in front of them…!
